What does Bob Evans Pay an hour?

I was just wondering what the pay is an hour at bob evans and if it's worth working there.

It depends on what position you want. I'm a server so I only make a little over $3 because we get tips. host's and everyone else makes more. I don't really like the way the company is going I only work there to pay for school I would look somewhere else.

minnimum wage to start ?

National harbor vs. baltimore harbor?

For my 15th birthday, Im taking me and a group of my friends to one of the harbors for a cruise dinner, and then to a hotel. I don't think the idea is amazing or anything, but I just want some opinions on which harbor should we go to, National or Baltimore? Which one is the funnest and has the best environment. Please help, thanks!

Well I work at the National Harbor and I don't really recommend it for a b-day party. Theres nothing at the harbor....nothing really fun anyway. If I were you, Id go to baltimore. The National Harbor is still under a lot of construction and right now the only people I see out here are older people and Im sure you don't want to party around old people in the middle of no where. See if you were over 18 then you might enjoy some of the restaurants.

Baltimore has cruise ships that go out on the Chesapeake Bay for a day or night cruise.

There are various places you could go on the harbor, e.g. ESPN Zone.

Check with Chamber of Commerce for cruise schedules.

Baltimore Harbor will be a lot more fun for you. National Harbor doesn't really have anything there and it's kind of in the middle of nowhere.

Have fun!

Baltimore, for sure! The cruise ships dock right across the street from the hotels. Have a crab cake, hon!

Going to a retirement Banquet dinner?

So I am on the fire department going to class for emt/paramedic training and we are having a retirement dinner at a banquet hall tomorrow and in all the pictures I've seen of the last years retirement dinner they dressed nice so i was wondering should I wear a dress or skirt with a nice shirt? one of the girls are wearing a dress too so i wont feel out of place so any ideas?

also im 19 and I've been on the fire department for 5 months now

You're in a mostly masculine environment while at work so why not be a little "girly" and wear a nice dress? It would be the correct attire for the event anyways..... most of all be comfortable.

Dress nicely. It probably doesn't matter if it is a dress or a business suit. I think you will find the business suit more common nowadays.

Good places to eat near Denver Colorado?

I need a place thats nice but not too expensive and kid friendly. Any ideas?

Parisi's off of Tennyson- kind of small but decently priced and the pizza, sandwiches-everything is awesome.

Cheesecake Factory is very kid friendly.

Even better is Grand Lux Cafe in the big small in South Denver (close to Nordstroms).

You could try Red Robin kid friendly, also Casa Bonita in Lakewood very kid friendly mexican food, Chuck Cheese is another kid friendly pizza. None of them are fancy places just fun and not high in price. Have fun if you go to any of them

Where is the best place to open an ice cream parlor?

I think close to a park would be a nice place to have a ice cream parlor.

well, i used to live in Queenston

not many things to do there, but the Laura Secord Homestead

serves ice-cream inside, and many people go there because it's the only store around that sells it. Especially in the summer time, because many people bike ride down Brock's Monument and are looking for something cool, refreshing, and sweet.

so along the area where people like to bike ride, go for walks,

around a park or plaza?

I think a place that people go to alot but don't do it where it gets cold alot in the year and a place that its not to hot where you can get heat wave....

An area or street with a lot of foot traffic, preferably close to a theater, in a shopping center or near restaurants.

What are the best restaurant to eat at while visiting NYC?

keep in mind, i%26#039;m not rich!

moderately priced food.

i%26#039;m young and i like everything except mexican food. and i don%26#039;t care for chinese food. but i love sushi.

Some more details would help:

Are you going on a date?

Are you going with a group?

How not rich are you?

I just came back from Il Bastardo in Chelsea (7th ave bet 22/23). We were a group of 6.

Pros:

Great atmosphere

Exceptional food quality and portions

Host - our entire group was not on time and he had no problem holding our table until everyone was there even though it was very busy

Bartender - while we waited we had drinks and she was obviously in a great mood cause she gave us free shots

Reasonably priced considering the type of restaurant it is (apps -$8-$15, entree- $15 - $25)

Cons:

Waiter wasn%26#039;t 100% attentive, we did not have the proper amount of settings during dinner nor were extra brought out when we ordered several desserts to share

Dallas BBQ in Times Square next next to the Double Tree Hotel was great I went there a few months ago. The food is good and reasonably price like 10ish bucks.

Buddakon is awesome!! Loved it in philly and atlantic city as well!

How

Hi,

We are considering staying at Excalibur next week. We are on a budget! How's the buffet at Excalibur?

the buffet is super good. :)

you should go there, I recommend.

I stayed at the Excalibur one time and I stayed there. The buffet is off the hook but the prime rib made me sick the whole trip.

IT IS TEH BOMB THOUGH!!!

What should I wear to Blowfish Sushi on Santana Row in San Jose?

It's my first time going, I'm going on a date....I planned on wear a little black dress with flats and an evening clutch. Is this too dressy? What's the atmosphere like?

If you're going on a Fri or Sat night, that's perfectly fine! People do wear jeans there, but usually dress them up with nice tops, shoes, accessories.

Do you automatically check the balance of gift cards prior to using them for purchase?

A co-worker received a gift card through the mail from a business thanking her for her "personalized service". It was a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant. Without thinking she took her two friends and went to lunch. The server returned and told her that the card had a zero balance. Upon checking on the company, it was a company that did not exist. Someone obviously played a prank.

My question is this, if you received a gift card from a "business" that seemed reputable, would you still check the balance or would you simply use the card? I, myself, have to admit that I would have taken it for granted that it had a balance on it as well.

I always do even if it is from a relative! My aunt gave me a $100.00 American express gift card for my wedding. Well I went and got all of the stuff I wanted and got to the register where they told me it had a zero balance. I even had the receipt showing she had paid for it. I had to mail her back the gift card and it took them two months to give her money back.

Now when ever I get a card I check the balance first. I don't want to go through that mess again.

I always check the balance on any gift card prior to use, even if it is one I purchased myself. There are many ways someone can siphon that money off the card even without ever taking it physically and I want to make sure that hasn't happened. I also always register my cards online, so if something does happen I get the money back minus a fee rather than lose the whole amount of the card. I use gift cards as a way to monitor and budget my "fun" money (read: internet shopping! LOL!) and I'd hate to have to give that up because I didn't want to take the time to take precautions. I simply love shopping too much to take the chance!

I wouldn't even think about checking the balance. But I think a few of those cards have 1-800 numbers that you can call to check

Makes sense to check on the balance, esp. after reading some of these stories.

i always check the balance to make sure

Good restaurants to host/serve at in Washington, DC/NoVA?

I'm 17, turning 18 in June, and live in Arlington, VA. I want to work in a restaurant this summer starting as a host, and hopefully becoming a waiter once I can serve alcohol. I have been offered two jobs: Harry's Tap Room in Clarendon pays $10/hr. and seems like I could become a waiter later; and J. Gilbert's in McLean, which pays $7.50/hr. then pools tips to become around $10-11/hr according the manager, but it doesn't seem like I could become a waiter this summer. Any other suggestions of good restaurants in NoVA or DC that might pay more and give me a good chance to graduate to a waiter?

I have many friends who work/have worked for Great American Restaurants (Artie's, Coastal Flats, Jackson's, Sweetwater) & they LOVE it. They treat their employees very well & the wages & tips are great.

I recommend the $7.50/hr job.

When looking for something else, look for something in fine dining if they'll hire someone with little to no experience.

Has anybody ever been to Golden Dragon Resturant in Los Angeles Chinatown?

On saturday I am planning to go to Chinatown in Los Angeles and the first thing I want to do when we get there is eat authentic dim sum since will will get there at about eleven in the afternoon. We have decided to go to Golden Dragon resturaant since it has a very big selection of dim sum,got great reviews, and is relatively inexpensive.Do you think my family should eat at Golden Dragon resturant or eat at Empress Pavillion a notoriously famous and A health rated establishement, wich is very pricy, and has lines for miles just to get in.Please share your stories if you have eaten at either locatioins.

the best in town! leave a nice tip while your there...

As a rice eater I do not recommended neither one.

But everyone has different taste

I suggested you try ABC next to Phillipe at Spring and Ord st.

A lot better Dim Sum now in Alhambra and Monterrey Park

Mostly the atmosphere is a little better,

As far as food and service is the same old crape everywhere

that's their nature.

Enjoy your tea

Having been to both, I would recommend Empress Pavilion. It's not as pricey as might think. I have been there with 6 people and the bill was about $80 (with just tea, no alcoholic beverages). Just get there by 10am and you should be fine.

My Dad took me there over 30 years ago I ve been back many times Great food

New yorkers..................?

im going there in april whats the weather like what clothes should i take ?

cheers

April is the best time. It has it's chilly days, so bring a light jacket or sweatshirt, and it's warm days, so bring short sleeved shirts and jeans. I wouldn't say it's warm enough for shorts, but you can bring them to sleep in if you want.

Bring sneakers.

Well, I'm a New Yorker from Buffalo, which is the second largest city in the state. But, oh, it now occurs to me that you could have meant the part of New York State that has the city of Rochester or Syracuse or Niagara Falls or the state capitol of Albany, or even perhaps New York City. But you do realize that the difference between Buffalo and New York City is about 400 miles. It often snows in Buffalo in April, but rarely so in New York City, and somewhat so anywhere in between. April is a transition month, so it can feel like winter, spring, or summer. So, you really do have to be more specific.

I live in New York, i would say bring a rain coat and decently warm cloths,NOT full winter apparel. But also be prepared for some warmer days, as the temperature varies wildly.

I assume you mean New York City. You will probably be walking a lot so be ready for that. It can also be very windy on the city streets in April.

A question about Burger King

ok if you eat a quad BK stacker like 24 hours after is made will you enjoy it as you enjoy it hot and fresh?

You can still eat it, but it won't be as good as if you ate it right when you got it.

no it wouldn't be half as good, eventually the patty's will become dry and brittle. i do work at a fast food restaurant myself and we change our meet every 10 to 20 min depending on what type of meat it is. but to the point you wouldn't enjoy it as much at all... unless you are really hungry:p but other than that no.

no, the stacker sauce does not last that long unless it was in the fridge

then you can microwave it for 30 seconds... we throw out the stacker sauce at the end of the night

Probably not. Food like that tends to go bad pretty soon after being cooked.

Does anyone know any good night clubs near LA ?

4m either ontario to LA ..

No. People in LA don't really go out much.

What does pizza hut team members do?

People are so immature. Working at Pizza Hut is very similar to working at any fast food restaurant. Its like a line, you take the pizza dough and then spread the sauce on, then cheese, etc. Then you put it in the oven. Another team member (might be you) will take a pizza out of the oven then box it if its to go then put it on the side shelf. If its breadsticks you put them on the counter then spread the butter (or dressing on it) then sprinkle the seasonings on it. Then you finish off by cutting the breadsticks really fast and filling up a container of dipping sauce. Then you box it or wait for the waitress to put it in a basket for a customer in the restaurant.

Hope the question you ask is solved. :D

Just hope that they never come out with the Cheesy Bites pizza again... That thing caused more than a few of our staff to quit. And I don%26#039;t blame them.

Depending on what your store%26#039;s policies are, it%26#039;s possible that you%26#039;ll be answering phones when you%26#039;re not busy with orders. It%26#039;d be a good idea to study the menu whenever possible, 50% of customers want to know how much it%26#039;s gonna be before they place their order. Other than that, and reading everything that%26#039;s posted around the store, just do what they tell you and everything%26#039;ll be cool. Nobody expects excellence right out of the gate.

They crap in a box and sell it to people for cash.

Maybe they might spit in your food.

Umm work there?

Maybe, but it seems people like seeing their food made.

Can someone give me some good recipes from Trang?

Preferably any that use Beer (hint*) Thanks in advance!

Burgers.

Add half a can of beer to a lb of hamburgers than make patties and grill.

Steak.

Soak in beer for 1 hour then grill.

Ribs.

Put on pan and pour beer on pan then back for 2 hours.

Well I just covered the three most important foods that I cook with beer.

Doggie Cabbage Rolls

1 lb ground dog

1 chopped onion

Garlic (to taste)

- tsp nutmeg

Salt and Pepper (to taste)

2 cups tomato sauce

Cooked brown or white rice

Cabbage leaves

Grated cheese

Parsley

Prior to cooking the meat and sauce, boil cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes. Cook dog until brown; mix in onions, nutmeg, salt, pepper, and garlic to taste. Cook on stove until onions are cooked (softened). Mix in rice and 1 cup of tomato sauce. Create rolls by adding the meat and sauce into boiled cabbage leaves. Return rolls to pan, pouring the rest of the tomato sauce on top. Allow rolls to simmer for 20 minutes. Serve, garnishing with optional parsley and grated cheese.

I must say, Byron has me a little baffled... I thought I'd try his recipe, and I've got a white Bishon here, but I think it'll take a few days to turn it brown... Man oh MAN those Trang recipes are tricky...... BTW, the dog was drunk to begin with so I didn't have to add any beer THANK GOD - Can't imagine the smell of wet alcoholic dog...

Byron is making me hungry. LMAO. Beer burgers are a specialty in Trang. follow the recipe of that sexy cowboy above.

Why would a restuarant cut back the hours of its full time workers, and turn around hire more people?

even an idiot can tell you, if you have to cut the hours back on your full time workers, than you shouldnt be hiring more people.

Part-time employees cost less money to a business, in general, than full-time employees because they are working less hours per week %26amp; are likely not receiving any benefits.

I agree that when a business does this that it%26#039;s likely unethical, but some businesses just don%26#039;t seem to care about that. It%26#039;s all about the bottom-line sometimes...

Usually this is a tactic to weed out a few employees that may qualify for extra benefits, worker%26#039;s comp, etc. Sometimes they do this so they can clean the slate, and do some retraining w/o hearing the guff from full time old timers... Maybe they cut back and know a few of you are going to fly the coup. Sometimes they hire a few people to start a hefty crew before summer vacations of final schedules begin. But honestly, 100% of the time they just do it to cut old staff, and bring new staff in at a lower/lesser rate. The rest biz (management) couldn%26#039;t care less about wait-staff...they always end up stabbing you in the back

because the laws are vague, and they find any way they can to make someone%26#039;s life a living hell.

lets face it, if you are poor, the gov%26#039;t isnt going to try to save your job or help you out.

the american system is flawed beyond repair, it pretty much leaves the struggling struggling.

they dont want to make it illegal, because godforbid they make save a human%26#039;s life.

all these family suicides you keep hearing about, are going to be increasing soon....honestly, i applaud them they got away from america once and for all.

and that idiot that said work to get a better job. with what? if your hours are getting cut. no one is hiring and you can barely make ends meet, then how you possibly move up better.

the poor people are the ones that made america what it is.

and the loserish rich and middle class show no gratitude.

i guess one can only pray for sweet death to come knocking soon and end the terror and misery.

Hi:

I believe your company is reducing full time staff not to pay benefits.

Part-timers do not get the same benefits. Its cheaper for the company to hire part-timers.

You should complain to the Labour Board in the areas where you live.

Write a anonymous letter to check the place out.

Part time people cost less. Part time, you don%26#039;t have to offer them benefits or paid holidays and all the other extra perks full time employees get. So it is usually cheaper for a business to have more part time employees than just a few full time employees. Also, no chance of overtime pay.

Yes, but if you cut back the hours on your full-time staff to below 40 hours per week, then they are not full-time anymore, and you can cut benefits.

True, but it%26#039;s ot illegal. It%26#039;s good business practice. Work at getting a better job.

Why do the KFC and McDonald restaurants at service stations always have lame menus?

In Canberra?

Because they are not major services, they are usually classed as a "Eat 'n' Go" sort of thing, which means quick service so you can get out quicker.

The less stock they have the quicker it takes to have things ready so they can keep cooking them so when customers order they can get it quick so they don't take up the petrol pumps.

Service stations don't sell much food anyway.

G'day Pointless Ladette,

Thank you for your question.

It is probably due to the location as there often aren't many options nearby and many customers want to eat as soon as possible and get back on their way.

Regards

I don't know. I'm more concerned with their lame health scores.

Why fish burger doesn

Since fish burgers don't have other ingredient, it become less tasty. Why fish burger doesn't have other filling like other burger friends?

I think Wendy's may...I like it with tomato too.

I add it to fish sandwiches at home when I make them with Gordon's or some other fish patty.

The filet o' fish at McDonalds is perfect without it though.

If you ask them to put tomatoes on, they will do it. My guess is that they add a tartar sauce like sauce which clashes with the acidly taste of tomatoes.

Have you ever heard of this restaurant?

Waiters are so gosh darn nosey!?

i hate going out to eat with people beacuse the waiters always are so nosey. i was out once and he approached us and said "who has the rock lobster" why would he say that? i hardly think its any of his business who has the rock lobster. and they always want to know what your having, i mean why? don't ask me what i'm eating, its none of your damn business..

waiters are so damn nosey

Ugh, I know! And the whole "what can I get you to drink from our bar today?" Does he just ASSUME I'm an alchy or something? It's none of his damn business, thank you very much! And on that note, no, Pepsi is NOT ok!!

I highly doubt that the waiter just came up to you and asked "who has the rock lobster" for the hell of it. Was he bringing some butter or something else that went with the rock lobster in which case he would need to know who actually had the rock lobster? I think so. Or perhaps he was bringing you your food and didn't know who ordered it? They ask you what you want so that they can bring it to you. They can't read your mind. Oh and the reason they ask if you want anything from the bar is because alcohol is more expensive than a soft drink. They're trying to run up your bill in hope of a better tip. It's really just common sense.

When I was a server, I called that "cattle-calling". Sometimes it would be me delivering someone else's plates and they didn't arrange their order right, so I'd have to ask. Other times during larger parties even though I'd have my orders arranged, people would switch seats without me knowing, so I'd have to cattle-call "Prime rib with horseradish, medium? Prime rib with horseradish, medium?" And yes, I hated having to do that, I felt like I was talking down to them. But it was the only way to make sure the right food got to the right people.

I think you confuse nosy with interest. Good servers try to establish rapport. Bad servers cross the line and take over conversations. Most people are afraid to piss off the server for fear something will happen to their food. Be careful.

Then why are you going out to eat? Just go to the store and buy what you want. Weirdo!

Don't they have to ask you that to know where to set your plate at?

Severed leg

Yeh bro, yeah me eats dem chicken - yum yum. Eating human foot remind me of ma ancestors in Africa.

Question for restaurant Servers; please answer?

My husband & I dine out often. We are in the habit of cleaning up our own table & stacking the dirty dishes when we are done. We do this because we don't like leaving a mess for the servers to clean up.

I read somewhere that this behavior is poor etiquette & that the Servers don't like when people do this. Is that true or just false? If it is true, can someone tell me what that is? I can't image it to be a bad thing.

I'm a server and I dont mind if people do that I actually love it anything to help me out is super

it is poor etiquette because it forces them to have to clean it when you want because a stacked up dishes table looks worse than a messy table, it's not that hard for them to tidy it up. I only do that if I want them to clean it up, like I'm enjoying a glass of wine and I don't want to look at my dirty plate sitting there.

It really depends on the person that's cleaning. Maybe in 5 star restaurants it's considered poor etiquette. Some of us feel that it's easier to stack them ourselves because of habits we've built. But, it all comes down to the person who ends up cleaning it. I think it's very kind of you and most people will take it as a kind and thoughtful gesture.

I've been serving for years, fine dining the last 15 years, and I definately prefer to pick up the dishes and stack them myself .. That way I know they won't tip or silver won't fall off ...Also, we usually take the plates to a tray jack where we scrape and stack the dishes neatly for the server asst to carry away. And I HATE it when the guest puts their cloth napkin on top of the dirty plate !

I dont think so. And not because I expect someone else to do my job. We have costumers that do this quite often. Most have them have worked in the food industry so they understand how things go. If anything it lets your server know you are done, and ready for the next part of the dining experience.

Some people leave half a steak on their plate and you dont know if they are finished or still picking...and then you ask and they look at you like your rushing them. When in all actuality, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt holding you up.

It isnt a bad thing at all, it surely helps us along the way. It sucks when 2 adults come in and make a mess at the table, we are the ones left to clean it up if there are no bussers. Granted, it's part of our job, however it takes up time cleaning a messy table. Thanks for being so considerate!

As a server, I really don't mind as long as the plates are stacked nice and neatly and not big plates on top of small plates. It can make clean up time quickers and therefore another table can be sat without waiting longer. It helps out :)

No, when I was a waitress, I appreciated when they stacked the plates up, One because it signaled me that they were finished and needed the check and two, it was much easier for me to swing by and grab the plates all at one time!

I love it and will actually thank them profusely for helping me out! You are a sweetheart.

College Graduates working at Fast food?

Are there any and why? Is it a bad idea?

I have a biological science degree.

Going back to school in the summer

Hi:

Fast Foods are O.K. for a summer job because those chains of stores are always hiring. Check out the Department Stores & Coffee Shops

All of the above pay minimum wage.

But at least its a job for the summer because jobs right now are hard to find. Look at the economy and all those people losing their jobs.

Lol...I actually applied at Wendys (just to see what would happen). They told me I was way overqualified and wouldn't even give me a chance.

How many of you have heard about where mrs. butterworth?

about the sweetstakes? i hope i win wish me luck! <3

I have - the prize sounds GREAT - good luck!

Should I get an attorney and file a lawsuit?

We took my 5 year old son to McDonalds (along with his brother and sister) and after eating they went to play in the McDonalds Playland. As he came out we noticed he had something in his mouth. It was an already used condom.. My husband immediately told him to put it in the trash. A local policeman came and made a report, we all exchanged contact info. (the supervisor, general supervisor, and the restaurant owner) and I transported my son to the hospital to be tested. Should I take this further? And should I force the McDonalds to pay the hospital bill?

I don%26#039;t believe you have very firm ground to stand on.

Can you prove, 100%, that the condom was in the play area and your son didn%26#039;t find it somewhere else and bring it in with him? How do you know another kid didn%26#039;t give it to him? Another thing, a grown person, specially two, wouldn%26#039;t be able to fit into most parts of the play area, therefore the chances of it being there because it was discarded by two adults is very slim, it most likely had to be brought in by another child, or your child. If you%26#039;ve taught your kids not to put anything in their mouth, why did he put it in his mouth?

Also, signs are posted, saying supervise your children, if you were truly supervising him, you should have seen some sign of what he had found and what he was going to do.

No, you shouldn%26#039;t take any further action on this matter. You won%26#039;t win. What you really need to do (as has been suggested by others in this forum also) is to begin immediately taking responsibility for your children and watch them so that they don%26#039;t hurt themselves. I agree that the county has parenting programs to teach you how to control your children and how to care for them properly. That%26#039;s you main job to do -- and you have been lax. It%26#039;s your fault, not McDonald%26#039;s. For your daughter to be hitting your son on the head causing the skin to break -- that%26#039;s serious and she might need some psychological counseling to control her anger. He could have had a concusion -- and it could have been much worse. Good luck with this. I hope you follow up.

Why don%26#039;t you supervise your kids better and look over their surroundings better before turning them loose. Just hope that the child protective services doesn%26#039;t lake them away from you for being flaky parents. I don%26#039;t believe your numb-skull white trash story. Some attorney will take the case if you what to push it that far.

YES definitly you should have them pay the hospital bill at least. i pray to god that his test come back clean. if not then i fell sooo sorry for you your son and your entire family.

Yes! Please get an attorney! They%26#039;ll fix justice. Please do so. Thats horrible.

McDonald%26#039;s was only partially responsible for this, but that%26#039;s just plain nasty. I say go for it.

yes

yeah!

for sure

Is there any Subway resturaunt that is it

I have never seen a lone Subway building. They are always attached to other building or shopping malls. have you seen one that isn't?

like eege's.

if not, why dont they have they're own buildings? is it a tradition?

My hometown has 3 Subway restaurants. One is in a shopping center, one is in with a service station, and we do have one that is it's own building, no other businesses attached. It is also the best of the 3 . I'm in Ky.

I live in Northern Indiana and there are two near me that are in old houses that have been renovated. So of course they're alone and not attatched to anything else. But all of the other Subways I can think of are in strips, Walmarts, or convienence stores.

I have only seen 1 in it;s own building in Newport I never really thought about this before but that is weird that they are usually attached to something else.

I live in North Carolina and the 3 closest Subways are 1. In a Walmart

2. In a gas station and 3. In its on little building!

yes,i have seen a lot of subways in their own buildings.I guess most of them are located in malls or gas stations because they attract more buisness.

The subway near me has it's on building. I guess it's special.

I've seen many in Alabama.1 right on the interstate going to Huntsville. And yes they are in their own buildings

i live in texas and we have 3.. 2 are in shopping centers and one is in it's own building

i've seen one in its own building while on vacation..but none of the ones around me are in their own building
